PTSD

I had a little flare up of PSTD last Saturday while watching Star Trek. It all happened when Kirk starts to misbehave and freak out about turning the ship around and Spock strategically places his hand on Kirks shoulder, squeezes and Kirk falls to the ground unconscious. Well my friends like Kirk I have also been a victim of what is called the Vulcan Nerve Pinch. Anyone else know what I am talking about?! Whenever we were misbehaving my dad would give us the Vulcan nerve pinch and therefore I am now traumatized and cursing Star Trek and Spock for life.

Just another little story about Star Trek. As we were standing in line last weekend to see the movie my Dad decided to go up to who he thought was me and Matt and whisper directly into our ears ,"I am James Tiberius Kirk".  To his disbelief Matt and I turned around and it wasn't us! It was two complete strangers! Dad turned around and walked away without saying a word. That's what he gets for using the Vulcan nerve pinch on us as children. HAHA.

Memorialize

Yay for PA 3 weekends in a row! We went and saw Star Trek, set up their pool, went shopping, Mulched, got sunburnt, BBQ'd, roasted marshmallows over a fire pit while listening to tales of Skin Walkers, played the great dalmuti, golfed, went ice blocking, ate Rita's, tanned ;) and lost our keys. Love PA but ready to hang with my CT crew this weekend!!

Ice blocking turned out to be a huge success.

I didn't quite make it down with my block of ice.

Family

I have been spending a lot of time with my family lately and some may think I go home too often when really I only go home like every 6 weeks and only for 2-3 days! So that adds up to like 17 days a year that I get to see my family. Ok...maybe that is a lot but if I lived farther away then I would go out like twice a year for 1-2 weeks each time. And I went to school in Utah and only saw them at Christmastime and maybe a week in the summer so I am now making up for it!

So anyways......I love spending time with family. It's just nice to be yourself and just be loud and obnoxious! That is how the Peterson family rolls. Matt and I decided to go down to PA yet again this weekend cause we have Monday off. We can't wait to go golfing and go see "Star Trek". I'm not so excited but I hear it's good so we'll see.

Jumping to another topic: Are you just as nervous as I am about who is going to win American Idol? I really don't have a favorite (even tho I have had a TV crush on Kris since day one) but I'm just nervous. I really like both and think they both deserve it but I think I'm going to feel sad for whoever loses. And let's all face it, AI is like the last show of the season and now what am I going to do when I get home from work?!?!? Please don't make me get off my futon/couch and go outside, that would be a travesty.

Oh yeah I do have the Bachelorette;) Fear not futon, I am here to stay.

Fifty, Nifty and Thriving

So we all know that mom turned 50 two weeks ago. What some of you might not know is that for the last four months I have been deviously putting together a surprise party for her>:) I was really stressed as to how we were going to get her out of the house but thankfully Crystal told her that she wanted to spend more time with her and wanted to take her to see a movie! It worked and she was out of the house from 1:30pm-5:30pm; just enough time to get everything done. When she got home we had everyone hide as she walked through the entrance way and we all yelled surprise and she ran away embarrassed haha! She had no idea whatsoever and was completely surprised.

We made cafe rio type salads complete with the sweet pork, rice, beans, and house dressing. We had cake and Rita's water ice for dessert. We had everyone take a quiz on Mom to see how well they knew her. I think a lot of people learned some new things about her! I believe she had a great time and will always remember her 50th birthday!

Decorations done by Matt;)

Cooking with Haldeeny.....the magician!

Everyone waiting for the birthday girl to arrive.

Surprised.

D.C. Wedding Bliss

My cousin, Aubs, got married last weekend! We headed down Thursday night and met up with my family on Friday to go to some museums. Friday night we were off to a BBQ party for the bride and groom. Saturday was the sealing and then the reception. The reception was held at a country club in Brambleton, VA and it was gorgeous! Aubrey was stunning and her husband Hunter is so sweet. I got to catch up with my bff Katie and meet her boyfriend, Tanner. I love being with family and feeling peace while inside the temple.
