White Elephant

We've made it a tradition to have a White Elephant party in December....the tradition just started last year but we plan to continue it! We had about 20 people over and we started with a Christmas Movie trivia game I made using Power Point. There were 36 movies and each slide was 6 seconds long so it was pretty competitive! After the movie game we proceeded with the white elephant game. I had told everyone to do 'funny' so as you can imagine there were some very funny moments through out the night. There were a lot of bathroom gifts and some scandalous gifts too! Matt decided he wanted to print a picture of himself, sign it and frame it. He signed it "stay thirsty my friends'. You will recognize that if you have every seen the most interesting man in the world commercial. He wrote on the wrapping paper, To: the luckiest person in the world From: the most interesting man in the world. He thinks he is so clever! haha but everyone did love the gift. It was even stolen once...well twice if you count me...I didn't steal it for myself but for a friend who had to leave early! It is now being displayed in their front entry! The party was a ton of fun and we can't wait for next years party....already looking for the perfect gift ;)

December 2011

December was a fun and busy month. We saw White Christmas at the Gammage. I was having a hard time getting into the Christmas Spirit but after seeing this show I definitely felt it! We also went and saw the Mesa Temple Lights for the first time with the Hedgecock's. I attempted to decorate this year...I got most of my ideas off of a decorating blog so I think they turned out pretty cute. We also hosted a fun White Elephant party and spent a quiet Christmas together, just the two of us.

A Very Honey Badger Thanksgiving

Lauren came to visit for Thanksgiving! I was so happy when she called 5 days before Thanksgiving to tell me she was coming...and she didn't even really tell me. She made a comment about bringing her bathing suit and that's when I asked, "are you coming to Phoenix?" We even met her new boyfriend, Jared, because his family decided to meet in Phoenix this year (I'm pretty sure that is the reason Lauren decided to come down). So we stayed up way too late watching movies, playing games, going to Walmart at midnight Black Friday....WOAH...had to park across the street from Walmart because there were SOOOO many cars. And as you can see by my pictures, way too many people. In the end I got one $2 DVD...it was fun though.

We also had Thanksgiving dinner at my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Mark's house. Then that night we went downtown for the annual lighting of the Hyatt Christmas Tree. Every year Matt lets someone else plug it in and this year it was Aunt Kathy.

Lauren and I spent all Black Friday shopping and found this shirt that says, "Honey Badger Don't Care"....we were like what??? Who would make a shirt that says something so random. Of course we had to Google it when we got home and thanks to YouTube we saw the hilarious (but a little big vulgar) video that inspired the shirt.

By the time we knew it Sunday had come and Lauren had to leave :( It was so much fun having a sister visit and now we are saving our money for our Disneyland trip in April!

Semi-Annual Post

Yes, it is that time of year when I need to post about my cats! So here are a few pictures I have taken over the last couple of months....

One night I woke up at 3am and couldn't find the cats. They are always in our room at night and follow me around so it was weird that I hadn't seen them. I looked everywhere and still no cats! Then I finally checked the laundry room where they used to be locked up each night. Sure enough they were sleeping above the cabinets!

Matt had his last night of class a couple of weeks ago and Poohie did not want him to leave. Or she wanted to go with him.

I guess Gussie was cold because she shimmied her way into Matt's jacket sleeve!

Then she tried to get out and got stuck.

Then she just shimmied backwards and looked like Puss In Boots!

Then she got mad at me for taking pictures.

Look at this scary claws!!

Finally she fell asleep. She did evetuanlly figure out how to get out going backwards!

Lastly we had a party the other night and they both thought they were invited!

Ideas for next family photo?

I was just browsing through Awkward Family Photos and had some good laughs....here are a few of my favorites...

"Sometimes, we know if he's been naughty too"

"She just wants to hold him"

"If he couldn’t blow out the candles, his father was always there to back him up"

"She just wanted to celebrate the Fall"

"Chuck E Cheese wasn’t available, but they got the next best thing"

"Anything for the shot"

"The rabbit didn’t have time to dispose of the last kid"

"Has anyone seen Aunt Telcia?"
