Gems

I have another story concerning Home Goods. Can I say I am obsessed with that store?! I go there at least once a week.

On Saturday we dropped by to see if they had these lamps we've been looking for and to our chagrin they were not there. However, I spotted this coffee table on clearance for $135 and the matching end table for $100. I showed them to Matt and he agreed that they would go great in our living room. We didn't want to pay $100 for an end table when the much larger table was only $35 more so Matt asked the sales associate if we could have both for $200 and he said yes! Apparently you can barter with anybody these days. Ok I bet you're thinking that this story couldn't get much better....but it does! When we got home we looked up the company that made these little numbers and saw what they are pricing them for on their website.......the coffee table is going for $704 and the side table $576! Who knows if anyone really buys them for that price but I'm thinking we got a great deal!

As you can see the cats adore matt. They like me too when matt's not home.

Update on our kitty who has bowel issues: We decided to make her an outdoor cat. We have a vent in our garage that leads to the back yard so we just took it apart and are going to install a cat door. She comes inside the garage to sleep and eat and then she can go out whenever she wants. So far she seems to enjoy it.

OK now that my pity party is over I can tell you that I'm not as miserable as I sound! I was just having a horrible day and had to vent, which I probably shouldn't do on my blog. Some days I just really miss the East and that's OK because we lived there for two years and made a lot of friends and have a lot of good memories. I hope that I didn't come off as sounding like I don't like it here because I really do. I often feel like I'm cheating on the East because I like AZ a little too much!

Last night after complaining to the world wide web (or the 3 people that read this) I went to Enrichment and had a great time. I met so many new ladies and felt at home. Today Matt and I drove around the mountains and took in the beauty that is practically at our doorstep.
I just let a bad day get me down. Sorry I'm really not a miserable person just a crazy person with a cat that won't stop pooping on the carpet.

Can I Go Back?

This week I saw a job posting on Hyatt's website for an Assistant Director of Engineering at their 5th ave hotel. I came so close to making Matt apply. Sometimes I have to wonder why there were no positions for Matt in NY until one month after we relocated to AZ. Since June there have been two openings....well actually make that three. I really have to trust that the Lord wants us here in AZ. Don't get me wrong I really really like it here. I love the weather and my house and the super target that is literally a two minute car ride away, but I tragically miss CT/NY. I spent all day dreaming of going back this summer and spending my time shopping and hanging out with my friends while Matt helps open a new hotel. I am praying they ask him to help and I have already thought of what I would tell my boss when I request two weeks off to go play in NYC! UGH it's just been one of those days where all I want to do is move back to where it's comfortable.

I really like this picture that my darling friend Lindsey took without me knowing. It was taken in NYC after we went to the Museum of Natural History last March. Don't we fit in so well?!

Aunt Lez is a childrens book author and had her first book published in 1997. Her latest book "Who Loves The Little Lamb" was realeased this month and is the most darling book ever! Check her out on amazon and her own personal website.

Top 10 Movies of 2009

In response to my Uncle Brennan's Top 10 movies of 2009 Matt and I made our own list.

10. Terminator Salvation
Lots of action and a unique look into the franchise. Best Terminator since the first one.

9. Twilight: New Moon
What can I say? If this movie didn't make the list then I just wouldn't be a true fan. Much better acting, music and special effects then the first.

8. 2012
Really intense special effects and an interesting plot. The acting wasn't all that great but the special effects made up for it.

7. Avatar
This is one that I (ami) didn't see. Matt says, "it has ridiculous special effects. A little bizarre and a little political."

6. Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
As usual I love Harry Potter. Thought it was a little heavy in character development and left out some key scenes. However I still enjoyed it.

5. The Princess and The Frog
Matt didn't see this but I decided it had to go on the list. This movie takes you back to the Disney princess days. I loved the music and the characters. I'll buy this movie once it's out on DVD.

4. Star Trek
Not a true trek but entertaining non the less. Loved McCoy. The acting, special effects and story line were all great.

3. Paul Blart: Mall Cop
LOVED Paul Blart. It got even funnier when we moved to Arizona where all of the mall cops ride on segways and flirt with the teenage girls. We love Kevin James and it's so nice to see a clean comedy.

2. UP
Always a fan of Pixar and after a few years of so-so movies, UP takes the cake. I saw this movie twice in the theatres and cried and laughed both times.

1. Taken
What can we say, we love a good action thriller. Saw this movie in the theatre and it was worth every penny. The bad guys definitely get what's coming to them. Almost as many one liners as Napoleon Dynamite.

Runners up:
Angels and Demons
